The Taming of the Shrew

On December the 19^th in 2008,I and my classmates watched a performance in NFLS Auditorium on 3^rd floor.It began at 6:30p.m.

This performance is the underground drama society called The Taming of the Shrew.The show is very good and we all enjoyed it.I chose it because I think it would be a perfect performance,the reault proved that is true.The story is about how to become a good gril.The story is interesting.Some sence was very funny that everyone laughed and made a lot of noice

I really like it that I can remember it up to now.My classmate Richard played a role of the perfprmance and he did a very good job.I took a lot of photos there and I think it is clever to spend 20RMB watching the performance.It is worth watching and make me very surprised.

We all had a good time there and I am looking forward to the next one.

Visiting a Church

On the afternoon of April 25^th,I went to the protestantism church.with my classmate Tracy on Mochou Road.I chose this religion because I know it more than any others and that place is easy to arrival.

Church is an inviolable place and very quiet.There a few people sat there,but I did not know what they were doing.May be just think about something or have a rest.It is my frist time to visit it,I feel very excited and interested.But one thing that make me not happy is that we can not take any photos inside of the church,may be it is too formal. We did not make any noice

I like this place because it makes me calm down and comfortable..When I have something worries me or I feel not good ,I can go to there to make my main clear and make me quiet.People will think of good ideas in quiet place.

Western culture is quite different from the eastern calture.But both of them are important. To learn some other areas’ culture during our free time is good for our growth.The more we learn ,the better we become..

Working Experience

I have already finished volunteer hours ,but working experience is also important.This term ,I spent about 10 hours of my free time working for a company and earn 100 RMB.

The campany is far from my house and I went there once a week.The campany sells toys for live.

The first time I went there,I just do some cleanning jobs.It just like find a job when I grow up.Because the different things is from easy Every one will do the simple things when he find a job ,then harder and harder.

The second time,I help the workers to count the toys.It seems easy,but the number is big,and a little not pay attention will cause mistakes.Luckily,I did not make any mistakes and do it successfully.

The third time ,I help the workers to put diffdrent kinds of toys into some same group and write the right price on the toys

Working experience is so important that choose the success or failture.Even if I am very talent and have a lot of knowledge, but do not have any working experience,the reasult is that I lose job,because I do not know how to use this skills.Do some working before I find job is good for my growing.I will know the disadvantages that make me work not very well.I can improve my skills and can find a good job in the furture.I will do more working experience and make me better and better.

Pulic Event

On April 21th,I with my father took part in a meeting on Shijing Hotel ,Hongshan Road.I spent the free time during noon listening this meeting.

The meeting is about some problems in food.The seepcher is called HeAO who is working on food.The speech is divided into 5 points.

There are a lot of bad things in food and people can not eat them safely.We can not use the cheap and harmful things instead of normal things.Simple problem will cause the hard one.

After I listened it, I knew a lot things.Food is the most important part of humans’ life,so people pay a lot of atttention om it ,but there are also some problems on it,so some other area must have problems,too.We must be honest and the government should be resonpible to the people. In all parts.The event of Sanlu is just the beginning,,the next Sanlu event is waitting for us,if we do not improve, it will happen and become worse and worse.

Cultural Awareness

I went to an Italian restaurant with my friends On Feburary 28th which is on Zhujiang Road called TaKe.
This restaurant is not very big but I felt more better than chinese restaurant.It made me feel warm and comfortable.The music and background make people eat more.The environment and serve are good.There is a big TV hanging on the wall and most people in here could see it clearly.Ther are some bnc connectors beside the tables which next to the wall.This different from other restaurant.
We went there also make movies that we need a good background like that.During the rest of working,I ordered a plate of noodle with chicken and some vegetable. The price is not very expensive but the food is very delicious and make me have special feelings. I used kinfe and fork to eat.
I also ate a piece of pizza that taste good,too.After that,I felt full and had fun there.
We enjoyed working on movie ,eating our food and chatting with each other.TaKe is such a good place that is good for eating.
I remember this experience and I will invite other friends to have meal in TaKe next time.

Art and Design

We had a good time on March the 7th, it was Foreign Language Featival,I and my classmates took part in this event and enjoyed the wonderful show.After that,Bobby ,Mike,Joe,Richard and I went to Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum.which in Changjiang Road.

This museum is very famous in Nanjing,it had a long history.It was built in 1936 and it was the first country art museum which had very deep meaning. We saw the Chinese caligraphies and some artwork.There some trees around the tall building.We can easily to see the title of the museum which is wirtten on a stone.

The title of the exhibition is “Chen Maoran caligraphy show”. Chen Maoran is a student from NFLS.She did such a good jod that she is famous.She learned caligraphy when she was a child.She put her affect into this atrwork and also got a lot of prizes.All the caligraphys are full of history culture.All the scripts are very different that we use now.These are used in old times.Teenagers seldom can write these scripts.Most of artwork are poems that from tang and song dynasties.Some poems discribe the view of nature,the environment is much more beautiful than now,such as mountains ,rivers and forests.

I also went to the top flour of the building to see some other artworks.There are a lot of pictures of bulls showing in the room because this year is bull year in China.I like a picture of them,but I can not remember its name.There are three bulls in the picture.Two are big and the other on is much smaller.This is a family of bulls and big bulls love and protect their childern very well.The artist put chinese traditional culture in his drawing.The adult always give their love and do more things for their children.They hope their children will be better than them.

Artworks in there are worth enjoying.I hope I can see other good artworks when I visit it again.

Chapter 6.1
The sports is a very important part in people’s life.We will learn well if we have healthy body.For strong body we must do more exerice every day.You will also be interested in it.

During this term,I did much exerice to improve my health.When I am free at home,I used running machine to exerice.I can control the speed when I run.I always use the middle spend,if I use the high speed,my power will be lost fast and I will be tired quickly and I can not keep the blance when use the high speed,it is not like running on the ground as usual.When I feel tired,I walk on it by the slowest speed.When I get up in the morning,I often use it to make my mind clear.Because people will feel a little tired when get up.Running in the morning make me be excited without being tired.But the weakness is when use the running machine,it will make some noise.So I also do some other sports at home.I lift up the barbells every evening which weight 4kg for each.I do different kinds of postures to lift up the barbells because use only one way to do it will make me feel bored.

Indoor sports is essential,but I need outside sports,too.At the weekend,I invited Bobby to play basketball with me.We are not real good at playing basketball,just for fun and healthy.We met at playgrouud and practiced basketball.We practiced passing the ball and throwing the ball and running with the ball.We took a lot of photos there. We had a good time and we were happy with that activity.

I also ride a bike to exerice. Riding a bike is a very popular sports to make people heathy.Many students ride to school,but I do not go to school by bike because the distance between my house and my school is too long that is not good for riding a bike.During the weekend ,I often go to the near supermarket to buy some things that I need.During the winter vacation,for the further exerice,I ride bike for about 5 km once a time when I am free.Riding a bike can make me more carefully when do anything.It also improve my keeping balance skills and train my arms and legs more strong and aqility.I can kown the roads well and learn a lot.It is a kind of studying,get different ways to study can make my ability much better.
After doing a lot of sports, I find that doing physical activities is so important that we must do it.. We should do more sports include indoor or outside . Doing sports is a way to make more friends.It can improve my skills of communion.Good body is premise if you want to learn well.If you do not have a good body,you can not study well.We know we must spend a lot time studying for high marks,but if your body is weak,you will be tired or feel sick after spending too much time.I will do sports as usual,and anything can not stop me ,it is life.

In our school there are many kinds of clubs such as tennis club, badminton club,basketball club,dancing club and so on..But we had no time to join too much clubs.Different people will have different choices.During my choosing,I joined at the Sunlight Volunteer Club,I thought I would learn a lot form doing volunteer work. and I chose to do volunteer work for blind school.
The first time,it was special time that I still remember.I with my classmate went to the blind school,it was far from the NFLS.With the leading of Nick who is the leader in Volunteer Club,we visited the school and met the blind chlidren.The school was big and included many kinds of student.But the number of classrooms for each kind of students is small. The students studied at that school have eyes’ problems ,so they can see just a little not real blind.They have difficulty studying,they can not study as us by seeing.They study by touching the brailles.They are more hard-working than us,we should learn their spirit

The students that we met were primary students and they learned English for a short time .Our purpose is to help them practice the English and make them feel warm becase they would have a English test the next week and they should be cared well.They havd learned the 26 letters ,some colors ,some names of people and some animals. The chlid that I helped was a good student and he did not have many problems about English. Then I opened his book but found there were no letters just many small points were dotted on the pages.Maybe they are brailles .I asked him to teach me about that. He carefully took out an object just like a ruler and a small particullar pen.I thought that is the main tool to learn brailles just like our dictionary.Then I taught him some other words and he learned quickly.After that,I took him to go outside and play games.We had a good time there.

The second time,we went to the blind school,we chated with the blind chlidren and play the games with them.We have a good time playing with them.We took a lot of photos.
From this club I have learned that we should be kind to the disabled people around you and help other people in need.There are many people need love and help.Do some thing for them that you can do,such as give a seat to the old on bus and help the blind to cross the road.If you do not help other people,when you get into trouble,no one will help you.We should learn the spirit from the blind people.Though they can not see the beautiful world,they have a strong feeling,they use their heart to feel the world,they are confident to the furture.This club help my ideals into action.Do more than what you say.To used your heart to warm others’ hearts,this world will be more beautiful.

During this term , I spent about 10 hours doing volunteer work..I Spent almost time to help our PE teacher Mr.Harris,The first time ,I and my classmates helped him clean his new offfice,the things in the office are very heavy and in a mass, we not only used our power but also used our mind.Our purpose was to make things of two house into one.We carried everything out of the office.Then moved them into one house and made things neat.The house was very dirty.The next time we helped Mr.Hariss clean the office again,we made a nice place for our PE lesson to learn and play hockey.To prevent hurt,we use the mats to put around the place.we measured the length and width of the mat,and workout the number of mats that we needed.We used two small trolleys to carry the mats.The mats were so big and heavy that we could not carry it easily.After that we put them one by one and made them neat.We finished our task successfully.In the end, Mr.Hariss visited us to have a dinner,the food were nice and we had fun there.I learned that we should work together when do a teamwork.Maybe we will have different ideas,but our purpose is the same.So we must connect our ideas,and made them into one.The power of collectivity is much bigger than personal power.We should think a lot for the group and it will be stronger and stronger.
During the spring festival,I with my parents went to the hometown,I used my own nitiativea to preside a big birthday party with my sister.It was my grandmother’s 70 birthday.There were about 170 people attend the party.Before that began,we spent a lot of time practicing.For good presiding,we must preside without reading the words when the birthday started.We should also use body languages.We should have a good mentation,too.Personal skills is important,but the collaboration between two toastmasters is more important.If one toastmaster forget the words,the other should help him and continue without broking.So we made a good partnership between us.We got to the party early to acclimatize ourselves to surroudings.During the presiding,we were a little nervous,but it was real a success.All the people were satisfied with our presiding.when it finished,I also help them to pack some rest food up and saw the visitors out.It was a special experience.
During this holiday,I do some volunteer work for filter center.I worked in the library of it.There are much information in it ,such as books and newspaper.You will find some information that you can not find in other places.I put books into the right places.There were many kinds of books,such as computers,sports,news.Most were about some sudjects.When do this work,you should look carefully some names of books were English and the words were technics that I did not kown,I must find keywords or look the main information by reading the books quickly.After doing this jod , I felt tired.Then I wrote the price for some book in cards and put newspaper into some places.I learned that do volunteer work is not easy and should pay more attention on it.

There are many culturally different restaurants in Nanjing .For learning about another culture, and I chose a French restaurant which on Qing Liangshan Road .
On the 21th of December, I went to the French restaurant with my classmates and the grade 12 memtors.The restaurant is not very big .Athough attendants are all chinese,the restaurant is different from chinese restaurant .The reasons that I chose this resturant are that the resturant is not far from my school,and the resturant is my French classmate’s parents,so I can know more about the resturant from him before I get there.The tables are different that I have never seen.When we arrived,I felt warm and comfortable.There are some drawings on the wall that gave me different feeling.
The first food was salad.Maybe it was the important food in western,it make you want eat more,it was nice,we used fork to eat.The second food is pumpkin soup,it was in a strange bowl which like a little ship,I don’t like it.The third food is a dish of meat with some vegetable.The meat may be made of duck and chicken.It was delicious.We uesd forks and knivies to eat.It is my favourite food of all.It make me learn to eat western food quickly.The last food is desser.It may be a pie.It was small but nice.
It was a very good time,I enjoyed the French food and also leraned the some culture.The service was good ,but an only one disadvantage is that we must wait for a long time.I would recommed other people to eat there.It was a real good place that is worth eating.

On Dec 4. 2008, with our art teacher Ms Hadley, our class went to Nanjing University to see“Wu Weishan Sculpture” exhibition.From all the artwork, I like this one best.
The title of the artwork is Sleeping Baby. It is my favourite artwork of all.The artist is WuWeishan ,who is a very famous artist.The artwork was made in 2003. I will tell you more details about the artwork
The artwork is very small.The shape of this sculpture is like a child’s face,an irregular circle .Most of lines are curved.The artwork was made of clay and the colour is brown.The artwork is a head of a child who is sleeping happily.Maybe he is having a wonderful dream.Though the artwork is not a body of the child,the head is real good enough.(DESCRIBE)
When I see the artwork, I feel very comfortable and warm,even a littte surprise.I think how the artist can make it successful and embody the characteristic and personality of a child very well.The artwork is small but the details can de seen clearly, it is so wonderful that I can not believe my eyes.The child was very relaxed and cute .I am reminded of when I was a child ,I was very happy,I did not need to think about any problems,my parents loved me very much.
The artist relates to the traditional ideas in the world.The adult hinge their hopes on their children.They think their children will be better than them and be talented people.Children represent hopes.I think the artwork just embodies the child.It is very meaningful to see this artwork.This artwork is a high level of freehand work,it is full of oriental wisdom .If somebody think that the Sleeping baby is like a dead baby,it is worng ideas ,the baby is sleeping very deeply so it may look like a dead baby.(INTERPRET).
I like the artwork ,.because it gave me a deep impression and made me think a lot.the artwork can embody the personalities of children.The artist pays attention on the details,but some parts are vague.The vague parts embody a kind of deep arts.It make the readers think a lot.The artwork is full of connotation.To be a good artwork,appearance is less importanr,the connotation is more important.
Though the ways of other people watching,focusing on are different.I think they might appreciatee the artwork,because it is a really good artwork that is worth appreciating.People always hinge their hopes on their children ,and this will not be changed.The artwork that is an immortol classics.(JUDGE)
